Sister companies Yorkshire Hydropower Limited and Barn Energy operate two hydro-electric sites: one at Thrybergh (on the River Don near Rotherham) and one at Kirkthorpe (on the River Calder near Wakefield). Opened in March 2017, the Kirkthorpe plant is designed to generate enough renewable electricity to supply 800 homes.
